Our first MFF Deep Dive in Zurich
Déjà passéOutside, the media landscape is facing a crisis; inside, 65 media professionals from across the DACH region refused to let it hold them back. Our first Deep Dive brought together funding partners and many applicants in Zurich.
The key question: How can we grow public value business models?
Over two days of intensive programming: input sessions, where knowledge was shared and, more importantly, successes and failures were analyzed; case clinics to collaboratively remove obstacles and find solutions for specific challenges; and, of course, plenty of time and space for exchange and networking during breaks and in the evenings.
We would like to thank the experts who contributed to our first Deep Dive:
- Oliver Baumann, Republik
- Dr. Ruth Betz, Blue Engine Collaborative
- Kim Bode, Newspack by Automattic
- Sara Cooper, beabee

Our grantees were also present to exchange insights and experiences among themselves and with the wider group – including Clara Porak and Lukas Burnar from andererseits, Niccolo Brunetti and Samuel Hufschmid from Bajour, and Elio Donauer and Simon Jacoby from Tsüri.
Two days dedicated to sustainable journalism! We extend our sincere thanks to the Knight Foundation (US), the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (supporting the focus on science and data journalism for grantees in the SCI funding line), and the Swiss Gottlieb and Hans Vogt Foundation for their support of this event.
The next Deep Dive will take place in Düsseldorf in April 2026.
